Masterclass
Kirtan’s Role in Creativity, Education and Spiritual Development
Chanting Hare Krishna
Purport of Hare Krishna
I would like to present my master class in music composition and performance called «Kirtan’s Role in Creativity, Education and Spiritual Development». This master class, is a research based on my life experiences of a multifaceted integration of ancient Eastern and modern Western cultures in the fields of music education, composition and singing/performance on different instruments. The United Nations has used the contributions of this master class to promote the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development goals.
Dr. Bhadra Rupa Dasa presents his master class in music composition, a personal instruction given by his spiritual master, H.H. Jayapataka Swami Maharaj. This research is based on Dr. Bhadra Rupa’s Ph D dissertation in Educational Sciences awarded by the University of Geneva in Switzerland which is his life experiences of a multifaceted integration of ancient Eastern and modern Western cultures in the fields of music education, composition and singing/performance on various instruments.

About the master class
For the last thirty-five years, I have been deeply involved in music education, composition and performance by living and studying in South America, Japan, India (based on oral traditions), and Europe under their top most masters. I have successfully established scientific original links between these oral traditions (based on observation, listening, and imitation) and the written traditions of western European music culture.
Through my life’s cross-cultural translation across these cultures, I have developed an innovative and accesible approach to anyone to teaching/learning processes for composing music/lyrics by expressing the student’s emotions based on the poems by the Vaishnava Acaryas, the Maha mantra and Vedic scriptures.
Please join this wonderful program which pleases Srila Prabhupada’s mission so we all together can contribute to spread the Lord Caitanya’s sankirtan movement.

“In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy, the only means of deliverance is the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way.”
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare
When chanted the maha-mantra is a petition to the Supreme Personality of Godhead: “O Krishna, O energy of Krishna, please engage me in Your service.”

The following lyrics sung in Spanish is one of the songs from “Rainbow of Love” (in the video below) belong to the 5th ashtapadi from the Gita Govinda originally by Shrimati Radharani where she reveals her secret feelings to her intimate female companion by describing the spellbinding beauty of Sri Krishna’s form:
“His black hair with His peacock feathers,
From my sweet young boy,
Is like a thick black cloud,
Surrounded by a colorful rainbow,
I’m unable to stop thinking of My Shyamasundara,
Because He’s My soul,
He is playing on His flute, Mohana,
Music flows out from His lips,
Sweet as Bandhu, flowers from Vraja.
Shyam, My life,
We will see each other at the Kadamba tree,
His amazing love inspires Me to sing this song,
Cupid immerses Me in endless love,
Prince My beloved,
My sweet love,
My beautiful young boy,
He is My Shyamasundara”.
